Hot tub, sauna or cold plunge? How to pick a temperature

Genesis cold plunge on a poolside deck

Our showroom is set up around one idea: pick a temperature. Here’s the quick version of what each one does and who it’s for.

Cold plunge: 39°F

The Genesis Chill is a one-person cold plunge with a 4 ft lounger and a built-in chiller that cools to 39°F. It runs on 120v. Cal Spas says regular plunges can help reduce inflammation, speed up recovery and boost circulation. Most people use it after a workout or first thing in the morning.

Hot tub: up to 104°F

Hot tubs are for soaking, jets and conversation. We carry 11 Cal Spas models, from the one-person Aloha to the 11 ft El Grande. Compare them all.

Infrared sauna: dry heat

The Solara 2 and Solara 3 use carbon infrared heaters in Canadian hemlock. Instead of heating the air, they warm you more directly, so the room feels comfortable at a lower air temperature. Both run on 120v and are made for indoors.

Using them together

A lot of people pair hot and cold: a round in the sauna or hot tub, then a short plunge. If you’re new to it, start with short plunges, and check with your doctor first if you have a heart condition or other health concerns.

The easiest way to decide is to try the seats in person. Plan a visit and we’ll walk you through all three.
